When studying the tactical movements across Roman Gaul, a standard map fails to communicate the brutal physical hurdles of the terrain.

By applying aggressive 2.5D topographic displacement, we force the Alps and the Pyrenees to physically rise off the parchment. This treatment dramatically re-contextualizes the history; it stops being a flat graphic of borders and becomes a towering, formidable landscape, allowing the viewer to instantly grasp the logistical nightmares faced by ancient legions.

The Caravan (19th Century Archival Photograph)

Historical photography often feels trapped behind glass: a frozen, silent moment cut off from the modern viewer.

This archival image of a caravan is rich in atmospheric depth, but a flat print removes all that. By manually cutting the people, riders, their possessions, and their cart onto distinct physical planes, the 2.5D treatment shatters that glass.

As the camera slowly pushes through the scene, the heavy, layered atmosphere becomes tangible, turning a static documentary record into a sweeping, cinematic environment that you feel you can step into.

The Ambassadors (Hans Holbein, 1533)

Holbein’s masterpiece is a dizzying display of wealth, intellect, and mortality, famously anchored by the anamorphic skull stretched across the floor.

In a flat, traditional view, the viewer's eye is locked into a single perspective to make sense of the illusion. By translating the painting into a 2.5D space, we uncouple the layers—freeing the skull from the heavy velvet curtain and scientific instruments.

The subtle parallax shift allows the viewer to physically drift through the claustrophobic opulence of the Tudor court, understanding the spatial relationships of the objects just as Holbein originally intended.
